Personal Journey

In my early twenties, I began experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety. At that time, I had no knowledge of the available mental health resources or how to access them.

The questions that plagued me were common: should I see a psychiatrist or a psychologist? What were my options? Should I take medication?

As the next few years passed, my mental health condition worsened, and I struggled to find a therapist who could help me. Eventually, in desperation, I decided to take matters into my own hands and obtain a master's degree to become my own therapist.

My journey led me to discover the wealth of mental health resources available to most people, but which are often difficult to navigate. As a result, I'm here to help you access these resources and provide guidance to help you achieve emotional and mental wellbeing.

I have extensive knowledge of how to find and effectively use the pieces of the puzzle that make up a successful mental health toolkit, and I'm eager to share my insights with you. Let's work together to build a happier, healthier you.

Formal Education & Training

I hold a Master’s degree in family therapy from Texas Women’s University. I graduated in 2014 and have been in practice for 9 years.

I am formally trained in EMDR. This is the very best treatment for PTSD and trauma. This treatment is also effective for depression, anxiety, and grief.

I have also completed specialized training in working with complex trauma, religious abuse, and binge eating.  For those familiar with therapeutic models, my favorite models to use include Internal Family Systems, somatic and mindfulness interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Family Systems/Family of Origin work, and improving interpersonal boundaries.

I am passionate about learning and average reading about a book per week. As a result, many clients will tell you my “toxic trait” is recommending too many books!

“After literally years of therapists and counselors, I finally felt at home here. And that’s when the healing really began.”

Philosophy & Approach

Eclectic Techniques

My goal is to empower each client to find the unique and tailored methods that work for them. I use a large variety of tool sets and skills, from books and handouts, to in-session experiences, to experimenting with ideas you might have. Healing starts within and I’m with you every step of the way, showing and helping you use those tools.

Specialized Training

I am trained in EMDR, which is the gold standard, state of the art treatment for trauma. It is also effective for depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, and grief. Due to overwhelming need from my clients, I have also received specialized training in the specific areas of complex trauma, binge eating, narcissistic abuse, and religious abuse.

Accessibility

I am also trained in therapy via videochat so I can provide therapy from my office to your home anywhere in Texas. I practice out of my home office in Whitesboro, Texas. My home office has excellent privacy, with a separate entrance and waiting room. I offer afternoon and evening hours to accommodate school and work schedules.
